Foundation Years

Kindergarten

We combine the essential features of the traditional and Montessori approaches to ensure all-round development of the child. The stress-free method followed for kindergarten children makes the children enjoy and learn the basic concepts that prepare them for the Primary level.

The focus is on the growth of functional independence, task persistence, and self-regulation. The curriculum promotes social development, sensory perception, and the development of literacy and mathematical understanding. The elements of the Montessori curriculum allow an enabling environment in which children have the freedom to choose their work and develop independence.

As observation, exploration, thinking, and imagination are key to learning in young children, ample opportunities are provided through exercises of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, and Arithmetic activities. Indoor and outdoor activities and games develop fitness, and fine and gross motor skills.

Grades 1 – 5

Primary School

The Primary years from Grade 1 to Grade 5 lay the framework for academic success in middle school, high school, college, and beyond. Children aged 5½ to 10½ are introduced to a variety of activity-based, stress-free learning to motivate them to be active agents in their environment.

Small classroom sizes allow a personalised approach for each student. We offer classroom learning that includes drama, role plays, co-operative games, projects, picture talk, oral and visual comprehension, discussion, written activities, and multimedia edutainment, alongside outdoor activities such as nature walks, field trips, picnics, and excursions that sensitise children to the world of nature.

New-aged learning facilities such as robotics in the classroom and a junior Science Lab help young brains develop critical thinking and creativity. Seeds of leadership are sown when children are elected to the Junior Students Council in Grades 4 and 5.

Subjects offered: English, Math, Hindi, Tamil, Social Studies, Art & Craft, Sports, Music & Dance, Theatre, SUPW, Computer Science.

The Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern is followed to assess the child's learning under three areas: Scholastic, Co-Scholastic, and Extra-Curricular.

Grades 6 – 8

Middle School

At GFIS we believe that academic success is not the only measure of a student's achievement. We strive to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are socially responsible, emotionally mature, and intellectually curious.

The middle school years involve students from Grade 6 to Grade 8. Keeping in mind that these years are a time of great physical, mental, and social development, we ensure that opportunities are created to meet the developmental needs of students.

The course of studies is challenging and age-appropriate. During these years, students have the opportunity to become involved in many cultural and sports activities. These activities help build strong friendships and teach valuable lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship.

Grades 9 – 12

Senior School

The school envisions the all-round development of students through a holistic approach to education. Children get opportunities to think laterally and critically, identify opportunities, challenge their potential, and come up with new ideas. They are engaged in practices that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development and well-being.
